Seven interesting things about Álvaro Salazar

Chefs often have busy and challenging careers. They’re always marked by sudden and innovative changes as that’s what makes the difference and helps forge each one’s style and personality. What follows are 7 interesting things you might not have known about chef Álvaro Salazar:

1. His Andalusian roots
He’s originally from Andalusia. He was born in Linares in the province of Jaen in 1985.

 2. A chef by vocation
His passion for cooking is in his genes. As a young boy, he would help his aunt Luisa prepare meals in the family’s kitchen. This early vocation led him to beginning his culinary studies at the age of sixteen at the School for Culinary Arts and Hospitality in Cordoba.

3. Spain’s Chef of the Year
In March 2018, he was named the winner of the Chef of the Year (Alimentaria) competition along with his sous chef, María Cano.

4. Balearic Islands Chef of the Year
 And in February of that same year he was recognized by the specialized press as Balearic Islands Chef of the Year 2017.

5. Free-spirited cuisine
 The concept that best defines the gastronomy promoted by Salazar. It’s contemporary cuisine without any ties made with fresh local products.

6. Kuwait
He cooked for the royal family in Kuwait (the Middle East) 

7. VORO
It’s the name of his all-new gastronomy project. The restaurant proposes two intriguing savoury menus no guest will be able to resist devouring. One with 10 courses (VORO) and another with 15 (Devoro)
